Chestnut Flour

Chestnut Flour

Chestnut Flour has a beautiful, nutty sweet flavour. In Italy, it’s known as ‘farina dolce’ where its used to make a thin, crisp fruit cake called ‘Castagnaccio’ and a dark coloured bread called ‘Marocca di Castola’, which is now officially listed as a Slow Food product.
Chestnut Flour also makes lovely pancakes, gnocchi and pasta. The flavour pairs well with sweet elements like fruit, spices and chocolate, as well as savoury, meat options.
As with most gluten-free flours, it’s worth blending Chestnut Flour with other flours to develop the best texture. Almond Meal and Buckwheat Flour both complement well.
